Butterfly Study

Butterfly Study
Acrylic on wood panel
Size 5x7 inches

Reference for this one is Dover's wonderful "Animals" book, which offers reference materials for artists in the form of black and white drawings. I decided to just make up the colors in this butterfly instead of looking it up.

Day 10 of 30 in 30 challenge, oops I skipped a few days, but onwards! I'm not gonna worry about it.

My Side of the Fence

Day 4, 30 paintings in 30 days challenge.

"My Side of the Fence"
6x6 inches acrylic on wood panel

It's hard to step away from perfectionism and just let the little errors or anomalies in it be. This took about 3 or 4 hours from start to finish.

Day 3, 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

2nd of same model. Acrylic on 9x12 panel.
30 paintings in 30 days challenge.
Painting this fast, and leaving it less finished feels a little weird to me, but by the end of 30 days I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

Gouache doodle...

I usually doodle very small, and in pencil or pen. This time I used gouache, and on an entire sheet of paper. I used a stiff brush, the kind usually used for oils or acrylics.
